Clarinda residents against dog park at Kiwanis Park

The Clarinda City Council met in regular session Wednesday, where plans for a proposed dog park at Kiwanis Park were met with pushback from its proposed neighbors.

City Manager for Clarinda, Gary McClarnon, says a group of the landowners came to the meeting to voice their opinion on the matter.

"The property owners around Kiwanis Park really are not in favor of a dog part right there.  So that group came to the City Council last evening, and they talked to the City Council and said they were not interested in having a dog park at Kiwanis Park.  However, they were ok if they put it somewhere around the outskirts of town."

The Council did not act on the issue, thanking the group for their input and taking it under advisement.
